Union Temple Preschool is a three-year program that provides a creative and nurturing learning environment. Our hands-on, multi-sensory, child-centered approach supports individual learning styles by encouraging exploration through play.
Our teachers guide children through the separation process, fostering their self-reliance and positive self-image. Students learn to function in a group and build friendships. Teachers assist children in developing empathy and a sense of social responsibility.
Our curriculum incorporates block building, water and sand play, dramatic play, art, cooking, scientific experimentation and observation, reading and storytelling.

The physical environment plays a large role in a child's learning experience. Our classrooms are light, spacious and well-organized. A large indoor gym and an outdoor playground facilitate gross motor play.

Our Director, Susan
Sporer, has over 20 years of teaching and administrative experience. She has a masters degree and
certification in early childhood education and was one of our founding
teachers.
Our head teachers are certified, experienced early
childhood specialists, dedicated to helping each child explore and learn at his
or her own pace. Assistant
teachers in each classroom enhance our teacher/student ratio.

Each week, children participate in music and creative movement classes, which are tailored to each age group.
Our experienced yoga instructors guide children through basic yoga poses each week, which is both fun and helps increase their body awareness.

The innovative art program for our 4's class combines visits to the brooklyn Museum with projects in the classroom coordinated by a museum educator. Our teachers consult with the educator to develop projects based on the Museum's collections.
Children in our 4's class also have weekly swimming lessons with instructors at the Eastern Athletic Club, located in our building.

5 Days (M-F) 1:00pm - 4:30pm
Extended Day Program
Monday through Thursday, we offer afternoon classes that extend the school day for morning Threes and Fours classes from 12:30pm to 2:30pm
Early Drop Off
Morning students can arrive at the Preschool from 8:30am for a nominal fee.

Union Temple Preschool was founded in 1990 and is located at Grand Army Plaza in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. The preschool serves children both from our neighborhood and all over Brooklyn. Our diverse student population reflecs the richness of our community.
Union Temple Preschool is licensed by the New York City Department of Health, Bureau of Day Care.
